Well I missed the gym, unfortunately and I am pretty tired now, but I managed to sketch out a great outline for a new QuickBooks Blog post / web cast so now I am pretty excited to record it. I may actually do it as a full length tutorial.

I have an uneasy feeling in my gut today. This is my barometer – it lets me know when I am unsure about the outcome of something.

The day got worse and then it got better. I had a client call essentially asking me for a credit because I was in there fixing the mistakes of a former bookkeeper. He was right – he shouldn’t have to pay for it – I just HATE working for free. Prior to that I got a call from a CPA firm I work with telling me they are only paying half the balance they owe me (approx $1,000) because THEIR client whom I was doing the work for has not paid. This sort of defeats the purpose of me working through the CPA firm – they are supposed to assume the risk. My bookkeepers get paid no matter what – even if my client never pays me. I explained this to the person who called me, but she was the wrong person to explain this to. She has no power to do anything, she was just delivering the message that I wasn’t getting paid, and actually at this point that was what I was being told. Later on they e-mailed and said they’d pay half. That was when the day had begun to turn around.

At 5pm I went to pick up my newcomer to take him to a CA meeting. He’s over on the West Side and I haven’t been over to this meeting in literally years. I got to see some great people that I haven’t seen in a long time. As always the one sure cure for a tough day is to get out there and help someone else. The paradox is that I wind up getting helped probably much more than the person I am helping.

Time for bed. I should be able to sleep well tonight :)
