What message are you sending people?

Energy2

The underlying message that I put out there every time I pay attention to something or someone is that the person or thing I am paying attention to is worth my time. Many people and things are worth my time and then many things are not. So for example if someone is coming to me toxic – saying negative things about me or someone else, I have a choice. At that moment I can say that it is worth spending my precious time on by acknowledging and engaging in the conversation, or I can say this is not worth my time by moving on to something constructive. When I pay attention to someone negative by spending time defending myself (or my honor) what I am really saying is that the person’s thoughts or comments have value – enough value to warrant my time being spent on a response. This gives them the power to take up my time. When someone bad mouths me, they are giving ME the power to take up THEIR time. If I respond I give the power right back to them. So when I don’t give someone the time of day it sends a clear message – the person is not worth my time. Ordinarily we think of this as a bad thing – as a sign of arrogance and in many contexts it is, but here it is the appropriate course of action – don’t give the time of day to people who are trying to bring you down. Instead focus on the people who support you and promote you. That’s how you will develop and grow in your consciousness to become a better person than you were before. It won’t come about from fighting with people to prove that you are “right”. The people who love you and who say good things about you are the ones who deserve your energy. So put your energy where it belongs.

I’m pretty sure that is the key. To what I do, to what I think. I portray this to my “clients”, and to my friends. I make sure everything I say is poignant and truthful. Sure I may be a goof ball, a fire-starter, a talker. But I get things done, and I make people notice me.
