Mornings are great, but then again so are nights. I think it boils down to the times when the world around you is at "peace". If there is friction going on, or too many "moving parts", then everything gets jumbled, and nothing GOOD gets accomplished.

So what are your "bad" habits. What do you find yourself doing when you're not paying attention and approaching life in a healthy manner. I know I have nights where I can be watching TV and I've eaten enough yet somehow still find myself feeling unsatisfied and gong back to the fridge. I know those are times when I am eating for comfort, not because I need the food.

I listen to music, or go for a walk. The beach always helps, people watching makes me grateful to be the person I am.

Mavis, thank you so much for your comment. Addicts can be a frustrating lot and yet when we do recover it is perhaps a more amazing journey than any "normal person" will every experience. All of the pain we suffer and take others through causes us to develop a deep appreciation for life as we know it. This makes our lives incredible IF we can get and stay sober. It sounds like you are doing the right thing - you can't work on your husband, you can only work on you. Hopefully he will see through your example that he has to work on himself. Of course the most important thing is, as you pointed out, to never ever enable him. As long as he is staying clean, give him what ever he needs provided you can afford to give it to him. The minute he "goes out" cut him off completely. Tell him the only place he has to go to sleep is rehab.

Let me know if I can ever be of service here!

Thanks Mavis! You made quite a leap from my business "stuff" to my personal world here. I put it all out here for everyone to see for 2 main reasons; one I have nothing to hide and two, hopefully it helps someone today!

Seth, this blog post, too, has much meaning to me. My husband is an addict and this has been a rough journey. I am constanctly reminded through various support groups and reading that only he can make himself better. As much as I can, I don't enable. At the same time, it hurts to see him struggle. My prayer is that he had that light bulb moment of realization that his life is passing him by. M.
