I hope everybody is enjoying an absolutely fantastic Memorial Day weekend and I hope you’ve all taken some time to appreciate why we’re able to enjoy a holiday weekend like this. I had a great day yesterday. I took the whole day off to enjoy some time with my wife, her mother and Jasmin (one of her sisters). This is rare for me as you may know. I really didn’t even turn on my computer all day and I only minimally kept up with things on my phone.
It feels like I know people with every imaginable value system. Some are very excited about America. Some not as much. Some feel we stick our noses where they don’t belong (in the middle east) while others are very “gung ho” about us protecting our freedom. I think they are all right. I’m not saying this to avoid controversy or even because I care to stay neutral. I am saying this because I really do think they are all right. There is some truth to every argument. Want my honest take? I would never want to be on the front lines myself. I’d be too scared and I am sure I am much better with a computer than I would ever be with a gun, but I sure as hell am glad we have people who aren’t like me. People who are and have been willing to step up on the front lines and fight for the freedoms we believe in. Freedoms other people in the world hate us for. Why do they hate us for these freedoms? Because many of us take them for granted and abuse them. With great power comes great responsibility and many of us are not responsible with our power. We are gluttonous and frivolous with our spending and we don’t spend as much time or money as we should helping others. Of course this doesn’t describe everyone and truth be told. I cannot concern myself with whom it does or doesn’t describe. There is no point. I can only concern myself with whether or not I think it describes me. If I think it does then I may want to make some changes. If I think it doesn’t then I have nothing to worry about.

Freedom isn’t free, taxes are real, and the government is obviously in control. Saddening but true.
