Previously we saw how you can set up your inventory items in QuickBooks to handle the accounting for inventory where you are buying (eg) a used car, fixing it up with repairs and then selling it. But I left you with a cliff hanger on it because the challenge becomes one of how to take the setup a step further so that when I produce an invoice for the inventory I can simply invoice for one item on one line.

The answer is that you have to combine the 2 items (Original cost and repairs) into one and you can accomplish this very easily by creating and building an assembly item.

This screen cast will demonstrate how to create the invoice in QuickBooks.
