I use QuickBooks and other accounting programs where appropriate to capture and review your historical financial information. I use excel to analyze, project and present that information. I bring my staff in to get the information entered, and categorized accurately so that your financial information is reliable. Depending on your background you may want to be more or less involved in this process, however as a business owner you must be at least involved enough to want to understand what the information says about your business. Important decisions have to be made based on this information and as the owner you are the decision maker.

This means your business is running profitably and cash flow from operations is sufficient to pay all direct expenses, and overhead and still leave enough to re-invest in the business. You still must have an understanding of how much it will take to invest and get the business to grow to a level where the operations do provide the cash flow instead of you.
