MS Excel Tutorial – Sorting It Out

I received the question via the ‘Ask Nerd’ form about how to sort data that involves both letters and numbers in the same field such that the numbers sort as numbers instead of as text. This presents a challenge because Excel will not recognize this, so the only way to do it is to split the data up so that it can be sorted based on the numeric portion of the data and then brought back together using the concatenate formula.
